the grip on my bat was coming off so i bought new grip tape I've had to retape my bat before so I didn't think it was a big deal anyways i got home from the store and took the old tape off my bat then i opened the new tape to put it on and IT WASN'T STICKY! what do i do? i can use some kind of tape and stick the sticky side out and then retape my bat? what kind of tape should i use athletic, hockey, duct tape? I have no clue. Should I just go and get new tape? I'm not sure if I'll be able to get to the store again by tryouts. Tryouts are Monday.
thanks in advance
I don't have the money to go buy a new bat, plus i like the one i have already
Ok it is possible the problem may simply be that you need to clean the bat before applying the new tape. If it is an aluminum one get a simple scouring pad, soap and water and a little elbow grease and clean off the residue left by the old tape. Make sure it is dry and then apply the new tape. If you tried this or your bat was clean, the problem may be with the tape. You said the tape wasn't sticky, so it if it was supposed to be, it may have been old. Check it to make sure it is "Adhessive" tape and if it is take it back to the store and tell them that it didn't work and that you want to exchange it. I myself recommend a product from Cramer called "Go-Grip" tape. It is non adhessive and you can order it online. I actually like it better than sticky tape or those cushioned tapes because you can control the level of padding yourself, is not bulky and is easily replaceable and works well on both aluminum and wooden bats. It also really does perform very well when wet like they advertise. It might be something to think about for the future. You can check out their site at Cramersportsmed.com. They have a dealer locator to help you find their products in your area as well.
